Hello Everyone,
The past two weeks have been busy for me. I have been acquainting myself with the daily operations at my primary site. I have spent time re-shelving books and checking out individual students (3hours). I have also been able to arrange specific meeting dates to fulfill my time requirements at my secondary sites. One of my supervising specialists at a secondary site even has a special project for me to begin working on next week. I can't wait to find out what that will be. I was fortunate to be able to complete one of my checklist items last week! I attended a grade level department meeting with my supervising media specialist (45min). The meeting was held to discuss the set-up of the new computer lab in the media center. The media specialist along with the help of the technology department dismantled the unreliable mobile lab and converted it into a stationary lab in one of the media center's conference rooms. This was met with real enthusiasm by all teachers as the mobile lab was never able to be used with any real success. It was constantly in need of repair. The media specialist discussed the following procedures that teachers would need to follow to use the new computer lab: where and how to sign up on the calendar to reserve the lab, student conduct in the new lab, and teacher responsibility with regard to care of the equipment. The media specialist also discussed the need for teachers to remove their names from the calendar if their plans changed and they no longer needed to use the computer lab. She stated that this was a problem in the other computer lab as well. Teachers would schedule to use it, then change plans and forget to cancel with the media center. Overall, it has been a busy first couple of weeks. I am glad though. I feel a little less overwhelmed by all of the work that I know is ahead of me. On a personal note, I am also excited to be working at one of my secondary sites because this is where my daughter goes to school.
